![]() ![]() Looking at the running service (in Task Manager) there appeared to be three ‘high CPU consumers’ running when I replicated local sound distortions these being AVGnsa, Firefox and NT System & Kernel. I removed the offending PuP references but (as I suspected) this didn’t show any marked change in machine behaviour. I did some research online and loaded Malwarebytes to do a check for malware which indicated some signbs of PuP, but no real issue of any significence (or at least that’s how I assessed it). A similar effect is experienced with Plex, albeit there is no errors just continual buffering. ![]() BTW the sonos devise playback 'internet based radio ok' ( a route which would cut the PC itself out). The sonos devices are all wired rather than wireless. Then over this weekend, when I tried to use Sonos, i got "network connection speed insufficient to support playback buffering". This wasn't just on line, I began to have local sound issues (through Itunes and Foobar2000). It began to get more persistent problems (when playing online i started to get and distortion on sound). ![]() Not long after that I began to sense a general degradation in performance but not too noticeable. ![]() It was actually my wife that found that solution before I did, by doing that on her laptop. No idea why, but seemed to resolve it by loading Windows updates. I have two NAS drives (WD "MyBookLiveDuo") which ran fine, but a few weeks ago they suddenly become inaccessible. Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHzīy an large it has been a pretty reliable piece of kit and I use it forĪ) media streaming around the house (Plex for video and Sonos for audio)ī) online gaming *(Elder Scrolls online, Star Wars The Old Republic etc) Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit So I supply them after a preamble on how I got hereĪ few weeks ago, with my PC suddenly showing a noticeable drop in performance following applying a round of Windows 7 updates. I posted a general message ( ) asking for a steer and Brian Drab suggested that I post here and pointing to instructions to run Farbar Recovery Sacn Tool (FRST) and Security Check and paste the outputs. ![]()
